Director of Human Resources

We have an immediate need for an experienced HR Director coming from the Entertainment/ Hospitality industry with experience overseeing all HR functions for  multiple properties with assorted attractions, restaurant venues, etc. and experience operating multiple states. 


 
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing the operation of staffing/employment practices, training and team member relations programs and processes. The Director is hands on and must be able to and perform all the duties and responsibilities of the position. Sets direction and provides coaching to direct reports who will consist of regional HR generalists and employment staff. The Director of Human Resources will report to Chief Executive Officer.
  • Develops and manages the budget for the Human Resources Department.
  • Assures that all standardized hiring practices are followed in all operating locations.
  • Works with outside legal counsel on any wage and hour issues, EEO issues, worker’s comp and wrongful discharge issues. Responsible for monitoring new hire orientation, badging, uniforms, drug testing to include random drug testing. Assures contracts, inventory and purchases are done in a timely manner.
  • Directly supervises regional personnel. Assists with the timely closing of open employment requisitions, scheduling new hires for orientation and follow up with the on-boarding program.
  • Assists with HR strategic planning, review, and management of department metrics and data.
  • Directs the process for responding to all unemployment claims, worker’s compensation claims and attends hearings as warranted. Audits files and claims regularly to ensure compliance.
  • Develops programs for local HR reps and District Managers to proactively address employee relations concerns before they become lawsuits.
  • Directs an effective process for being the focal point for all issues of team member relations.
  • Meets with District Managers and General Managers to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Reviews market data to maintain competitive pay and benefit rates. Makes recommendations to senior management on proposed changes.
  • Assists in training operational leadership in staffing and employee relations activities and in leadership development.
  • Assist in Team Member communications, Town Halls, Focus Groups and recognition events.
  • Manages programs and processes to reduce and control loss time injuries, turnover, attendance, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Ability to analyze and interpret departmental needs and results.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures and in an interruptive environment.
  • Knowledge of Alcohol Beverage Control laws, licensing regulations and applicable Health Department regulations.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, wage and hour laws, EEOC/Title VII, insurance, and unemployment compensation laws.
  • Broad variety of tasks and deadlines requires and irregular work schedule.
  • Ability to work in an interruptive office environment
 
Qualifications
  • Seven (7)+ years of experience in Human Resources is required with three (3+) years’ experience in managing other people in the HR field.
  • Experience in the entertainment/hospitality industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as trainer and presenting to others in a professional and effective manner.
  • Professional Human Resource (PHR) or Senior PHR certification preferred.
  • Must be able to travel to various US sites 25% of the time.
